BACK STORY

THE CURSED FLAME

No one remembers the world Cain was born into.
Not even Cain himself.

The scrolls of the dead lands call him “The Cursed Flame,” born before time had a name, before kingdoms knew to fear the dark. But Cain has long forgotten what it meant to be born. His earliest memories are blood and frost and a voice like broken glass whispering in his mind.

Forged in a dying ritual by a dying god—one who cursed the world with night everlasting in a final act of madness. From that dark altar, Cain rose: a creature of divine blood and corrupted magic. The first of his kind. A prince without a kingdom, a son without a name.

A monster, yet a god.

He wandered the earth with no pulse, no warmth, and no soul to speak of. Civilizations fell like petals in his wake. His shadow stretched over empires, and his name became a prayer spoken only in fear. They called him “The Mad Lord,” “The Pale Reaper,” “The Hunger Eternal.”

But no matter how far he wandered, how many centuries passed… something inside him ached. A hollow that neither blood nor power could fill.

The silence of eternity grew louder than screams. The faces he remembered were all dead. The lands he walked were ash. The stars above him changed, but he remained the same.

Cain’s sanity cracked like old stone.

Until he began to search—for something, anything—that might anchor him to the world. A soul. A purpose. A reason to remain.

He tried binding himself to relics, magic, and even the Old gods. Nothing held. Nothing soothed the endless scream of memory. He became a wandering ghost of his own legend, unkillable, untouchable… and utterly lost.

Until he saw her.
